It really depends a lot on your own personal style; lens choice plays an important role in defining your own style.
For my own work, I like a photojournalist setup; a 24-70 f/2.8 and 70-200 f/2.8 , plus a lower light lens, like a 50mm f1.4 , and maybe an ultra wide-angle…. or the equivalent for a crop sensor. Take a look in the lens recommendation section for the specifics.
Some people, though, shoot only prime lenses; they might use an 85mm, a 50mm, 35mm, and something longer, like a 180 or 200mm. It all depends on what look you’re going for, and how you like to shoot. I don’t like changing lenses, and I like versatility, so I prefer zooms.
If you give me a little more detail about what you have in mind, I might be able to offer some additional suggestions.
