It’s rare these days to see a lens that’s really new and interesting, but it looks as though we have one here: this evening, Canon announced the new RF100-300mm F2.8 L IS USM zoom lens. Canon claims that the lens weighs only slightly more than their EF 300mm f/2.8 prime, despite its zoom capabilities. The lens’s IS provides about 5.5 stops of shake reduction (6 when coupled with IBIS) and the weather-sealed lens is compatible with the RF 1.4x and 2x teleconverters. An excellent lens for sports photographers and photojournalists, among others.
Canon says that the lens will begin shipping in May at a price of about $9,500. It is currently available for pre-order at B&H, and I suspect that this one will be hard to get for a while with high demand. Good luck!
