Tamron 17-28 f/2.8 Di III RXD for Sony E : Pricing and Availability Announced

The highly anticipated Tamron 17-28 f/2.8 Di III RXD lens for Sony E-Mount will be available in less than a month. This evening, Tamron has announced that the lens will hit store shelves on July 25th for $899 USD.

As a companion to the hugely popular Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 lens, the new lens will cover most of the ultra-wide to wide range that is typically managed with a larger and heavier 16-35mm lens these days on DLSRs. The Tamron lens, being designed especially for the Sony full-frame mirrorless format, is compact and lightweight, at only 14.8 ounces and 3.9 inches long. Like the 28-75, the filter threads are 67mm.

If the optical performance of the Tamron 28-75mm lens is a fair indicator of things to come, the 17-28 should give us excellent optical quality along with its compact size. I can’t wait to get my hands on this one.

If you’re as ready for this lens as I am, you can pre-order yours now at Adorama or B&H Photo for right around $899.
